Take three

I had a pretty tight schedule during the last few days, so i didn't really get to write a new blog entry for you. I don't know where to start so i'm just gonna start with the light show a few days ago. It took place on parliament hill, and the lights where projected on the center block/peacetower. Unfortunately, i for forgot to bring my camera so i could really make pictures of it (as you know the flash light of my iphone sucks). The light show itself was actually pretty cool. The effects weren't that impressive, but the light show was like a little film about the history of Canada, so i was able to extend my sophistication :p After the light show (it only lasted for half an hour), we went to Dominic's place (that's the other guy from darmstadt) as he threw a barbecue party. He lives in Vanier, which is the most fucked up neighborhood in Ottawa, so we took a cab there as it is recommended not to walk through that district at night. Cab rides are really cheap (unlike the one we encountered in Mannheim do you remember lol ;)), so it was all good. The party was nothing special, just sitting around, talking, chilling and stuff, but it was quite nice.
On the following day i went to that football game of the university team, which was the opening match of the season. In case you haven't heard it yet, i have to tell you that i've never seen people of a country that are more patriotic than Canadians. Lots of ppl over here told me that, but actually seeing their patriotism was kinda funny. So you know, the game was not really big, there were like maybe 200 people from the University to support the team. And still there were people walking on the pitch with the Canadian flag in their hand and a girl singing their national anthem :D on a college game...
which was not on a high level (you know i'm not into football, but i guess they are not that talented if they can hardly even catch the ball or just throw the ball into the opponents hands :D) So the first 15 minutes were actually really cool because there was a really cool atmosphere, but after that it just got boring, there are just too many breaks. At least you received on the entrance bags that contained chewing gums, hair gel and cereals and the hot dogs they sold there were also really good. So all in all, it was a cool North American experience :D The game lasted for four hours so i felt really exhausted afterwards and took a nap before we went to that meet and greet party for international students. I actually told you everything about that evening, it was quite nice getting to know new people, however, we noticed that we still don't know so many people :D But i guess it's going to get better.
I walk by the soccer pitch on my way to the gym and there was a game going on of the Ottawa U soccer team and without being arrogant, they really suck :D we are planning to get a team together and challenge them, this is gonna be fun because they seem to take it very seriously but they are really not good at all, this might be fun i hope it's gonna work :)
Today with kind of funny with my old landlord but also exhausting at the same time. Turns out that she studied in Princeton and afterwards at some other University which was for her study field of international relations better than Harvard (that's what she said). I think she really knows a lot of stuff that is going on in the world and knows much more than a regular person, given that she apparently knows lots of famous and influential peoples (my two roommates where looking for an internship ( they're studying law) so she mailed her old friend, who happens to be a former law professor in oxford if he can organize something lol). She's actually also really philosophical, the only problem is she is talking like 1 sentence in 1 hour (she talks very slowly), so you really have to take your time if you want to have a conversation with her :D Today we've also went to the market in Ottawa downtown and there is this bakery which Barack Obama randomly visited during his stay in Ottawa in 2009 without announcing it before, so in this bakery where pictures everywhere of him when he was at this place (they gave him cookies for free haha. I tasted those cookies, he was actually a lucky guy, they taste really great :D).
Sorry that the pictures are upside down, my laptop is really slow since i am here, haven't figured out yet what's the reason for that. So, this was my week, gotta get up tomorrow at half 7 because one of my courses got rescheduled and now it is on Mondays at 8:30 -.- :D shyze.
Hope it was fun for you to read it, i sort of screwed up lots of sentences because it's really late and my english's getting worse and worse. I really should go to sleep now :)
The next blog entry will be online soon, so stick around :D love u xx
