Take four

As i got nothing going on this evening and i completed everything i had to do for the uni, i feel like writing you another blog entry that you might enjoy :)
Yesterday, after my classes early in the morning (which were boring as hell), i went to the atm to get the money for the rent. Luckily, i found out that i can withdraw money without paying any fees with my ing Diba visa card, which is really awesome :) I gave the money to the landlord along with some mozart kugeln i bought for her because i'm such a nice guy. She really liked it and i think she really likes me now as well :)
Afterwards, i went to parliament hill where (obviously) the tour through the parliament took place. I've already sent you a picture from the outside of the parliament, but here you go again:
Pretty cool, right? There's the house of commons, the senate and the library in it. Unfortunately, the senate was closed at that time so i only got to see the house of commons and the library. It's also possible to go up the peace tower (the one in the middle with the Canadian flag on top), but only before 4pm, so at the time i got there, it was already closed, but i'll definitely go there at some point, people say that you have an amazing view all over Ottawa.
The center block of the Parliament was actually destroyed by a fire in 1916 (so basically everything except the library), so the parliament as you can see it on the picture is actually pretty young, as it has been build in 1935. There's quite a cool story behind the fire that destroyed this building. The entrance of the library i made out of iron, and luckily a guys went in during the fire and closed the doors of the library and in this way saved it from burning down. The doors actually looks like that:
I couldn't get any better picture because people were walking out there all the time. Also, i'm apparently to stupid to turn it -.- i'm really sorry.
Actually, it was not allowed to take pictures in the library for some reason, but i did it secretly anyway hehe :P It looks really amazing in there, the white statue is Queen Victory which was the first queen of Canada, people over here love her to death for some reason. Also, there was a small statue of queen Elisabeth II. There are 500000 Books in this library and over 1 million documents, really amazing.
The house of commons looked also kinda cool, especially because it's very similar to the one in UK, as i can tell because i watched in on tv ;-)
The seats above in the background are for visitors who want to come to watch the debate, that's kinda cool isn't it? Would love to do that for some reason :D
The hall between the house of commons and the library is called hall of honor, but there's actually not so much about it, it's basically a hall lol :P Or maybe i just don't see the architectural excellence of this hall that you might recognize, anyway, here's the picture :)
The last thing that i what to show you is actually only a door, but the door is really famous because usually if there are any interview with the prime minister or so that are on television, the interviewed person is standing in front of this door, so it's kind of a famous spot. Sorry again for not turning it properly ... also there is a randomer photobombing the picture, but it was impossible to get a picture of it without a person passing by :D
That was pretty much it about the parliament. It was really cool to see it from the inside and i really liked it, it all looks pretty British :) Pictures from the top of the peace tower will be uploaded when i get there :)
After the tour, we went to another cool spot that Farees showed me, at which you have a great view on the parliament hill. I already sent you the picture, but here you go again(sorry for looking like a penguin :(( ):
On that spot, there's also a statue of the discoverer of Canada, Cartier. Oh, by the way, guess who founded Ottawa?Yeah right, the irish people :D (and french to be fair). This is the statue of Cartier:
Ok, i just noticed that the picture actually sucks because i'm way to far away, maybe you can zoom in :) also, it's not turned properly again -.- i really don't feel like a good blogger right now :D
Also, i've been at the spider statue you mentioned which is in front of the national gallery of Canada. This museum is actually said to be amazing, i really have to go there at some point. In the back there's some kind of church (nothing special, i've been in there it's a regular church)
Also, there's a really cool statue that an artist from new Orleans created. All the bulbs you see there are from different areas of new Orleans, i thought you might like it :)
On our way there we passed the Rideau Canal, this is one of the famous attractions in Ottawa in winter because the entire canal freezes and people are actually skating on it.
This is obviously a picture of it in a unfrozen state. I'm not sure if i get to see it frozen because it usually freezes in late December / early January, but maybe i'm lucky and it's gonna be a super cold winter :D :/
That was pretty much it for yesterday. Afterwards i went on that barbecue at Dominics house, i bought some polish sausages and they were soooo yummy :D
We were like 10 people there, most of them were germans, so yeah... it was fine.
I already told you that the trip to the gatineau park was fail because it was much more far away than we expected. There was a casino on the way and i really needed to pee so we went in there. The casino is actually pretty famous over here (basically because it is the only one lol). Gatineau i adjacent to a huge lake so we figured we could go to the harbor as we already made the effort to get there. However, there was no chance to get close to the, let me call it, "beach", because there were fences all around it. As we were really exhausted from walking (we walked for 1,5 hours omg) and also frustrated we simply took a cab back home.
That was it for this time. Ottawa is a really pretty city, however, you've basically seen everything of it by now, it really all about the parliament/government. I forgot to take a picture of the american embassy, it is incredibly huge.
Anyway, i hope it was interesting for you and you liked this block entry. It's really fun sharing all these things with you, because i know that you actually care about me and that you like to see me having a good time. I'm really glad and grateful to have such an amazing girlfriend. Right now, you're probably sleeping and looking incredibly cute :-)
Stick around for more action :D the next entry will probably be about Toronto, really looking forward to go there. Farees ( my buddy) is from Toronto and he wrote me an email with all placed i have to visit and stuff, really cool he's such a nice guy.
It's always great for me to see you having fun in Madrid too :-) i bet when i come to visit you in Madrid you are already fluent in Spanish :)
Love you xx
